Sino-telecom is involved in the China mobile vOLT and gigabit home gateway interoperability action

On December 14, China Mobile's vOLT and Gigabit Home Gateway Interoperability Kickoff Meeting was held in China Mobile Innovation Building. Participants came from China Mobile Research Institute, R&D center and other departments, as well as 13 industrial units and research institutions such as China Information and Communication Research Institute, Huawei, ZTE, Fiberhome, Sino-Telecom, etc. Among which Sino-Telecom had the privilege to participate in the kickoff meeting.

At the meeting, Sino-Telecom President Mr. Xie Hu and other participants signed an action initiative sponsored by China Mobile. Sino-Telecom will actively invest in the "100-day" research and development of the vOLT prototype system and commit itself to jointly realize the commercial scale of 10G PON as soon as possible. It is expected to complete the laboratory test in March-April 2019, and strive to complete the pilot network in September 2019.

At present, ITU-T defines 340+ME and 660+options in G.988 protocol. The protocol allows OLT/ONU manufacturers to use private protocols in different functional modules, which makes it very difficult for operators to communicate with new devices in the existing networks.

In the network architecture of access network, OLT upgrade will lead to business interruption. In the process of upgrade, the control and service card must restart and have the version synchronization. In addition, the traditional OLT development process is too slow for operators, especially for the long development cycle with new feature version.

Sino-Telecom actively participates in the operation of VOLT Gigabit Intelligent Gateway Interoperability in China Mobile, customizes the API of VOMCI for standardized software modules at the operator level, develops the NorthBound interface of uploading and SDN equipment, and the SouthBound interface of docking decoupling OLT, and integrates and adapts the internal CAMI interface. Function decoupling can be realized by modularization. Modularization can be installed and upgraded independently without any interaction among modules. Thus, it can help operators to realize core functions independently, which breaks the inherent industrial chain.

The SAN 3700-XG8/16/32 PON and XGS8 PON products launched by Sino-Telecom have adapted well to the vOMCI system and SDN system on the basis of integrating the needs of operators, which can provide high-quality solutions for network planning and deployment of operators.
