In 2026, the winning footprint further expanded to Xiamen, Yunnan and Jiangsu,with Sino-Telecom securing the No. 1 ranking in every winning bid.

With the rapid growth of AI, cloud computing services, demand for high-bandwidth, low-latency data center interconnection continues to rise.
DCI, or Data Center Interconnect, acts as a “high-speed highway” between data centers, enabling faster and more stable data transmission across cities, campuses and cloud resource pools.
DCI-BOX is one of the key all-optical transport solutions for DCI scenarios.
Sino-Telecom has long focused on open optical networking technologies, with its solutions widely used in carrier metro networks, data center interconnection and AIDC networking.

What is DCI-BOX, and why is it gaining momentum?

Traditional WDM systems are typically large and relatively closed in architecture, requiring more space and making expansion and multi-vendor interoperability more complex.
DCI-BOX, by contrast, offers a more compact and flexible approach, with scalable capacity and simplified deployment and O&M.
Sino-Telecom’s DCI-BOX is designed to address these evolving network requirements:
  • Open and decoupled architecture for flexible networking Supports open architecture and standardized management interfaces, enabling easier integration with third-party network management systems while reducing deployment and O&M complexity.
  • Compact deployment with improved space efficiency Its modular box-type design is ideal for space-constrained scenarios such as data centers, metro nodes and enterprise equipment rooms, enabling more efficient deployment.
  • High-capacity transport for 400G/800G evolution Designed for AI, cloud and high-bandwidth service growth, it supports higher-capacity all-optical transmission and continues evolving toward 200G/400G/800G stackable WDM applications.
  • Simplified O&M and faster service rollout With simplified deployment and unified management, Modular WDM enables faster service provisioning, capacity expansion and fault localization in DCI and metro interconnection scenarios.

Where can Sino-Telecom’s DCI-BOX be applied?

  • DC interconnection: Suitable for interconnection within DC clusters, between DCs in metro areas, and for short-distance interconnection between DCs across regions.
  • DC-to-metro network interconnection: Supports high-speed connectivity between DCs and metro CRs, as well as egress routers.
  • Backbone transport network extension: Extends backbone transport capabilities to large-scale DC nodes in metro areas.
  • Intelligent metro network interconnection: Applicable to MER-to-MCR, MCR-to-MCR, and MCR-to-IPA/IPB interconnection scenarios.
  • Multi-service transport: Supports interconnection from BRAS/SR to metro CRs, EPC/UPF nodes to metro CRs, between metro CRs, and from CDN nodes to metro CRs.
  • Other high-capacity metro services: Meets the requirements of high-capacity, short-distance service transport within metro networks.

DCI-BOX is becoming a key technology for AIDC and cloud-driven digital infrastructure upgrades, enabling more open, compact and efficient all-optical interconnection.
In addition, Sino-Telecom’s DCI-BOX products have been deployed at scale across China Telecom, leading cloud service providers, and overseas markets. To date, cumulative shipments of its core components have reached 100,000 units.
