Sino-Telecom's STN6200 Platform: Enhancing Metro WDM Transmission



STN6200 platform is a Metro Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) transmission solution. This platform is specifically designed for urban environments, offering efficient optical signal transmission across metropolitan areas. Through advanced wavelength division multiplexing technology, the STN6200 platform enables the simultaneous transmission of multiple data streams over a single optical fiber. Case 1:





Customer Requirement: The customer requires support for single-wavelength 10G SDH services and requests optical protection for the line.

Solution Description: To meet the customer's needs, we have implemented a solution using components from the STN6200 series. This includes OEO units, OLP units, EDFA units, and DCM units. The original line has already been compensated for 40km dispersion and includes an optical amplifier (PA). However, significant attenuation still exists in the line. To achieve optical protection, we have added BA units at both ends of the line to enhance system reliability and stability.

Case 2:





Customer Requirement: A client in the power industry needs to transmit both 2.5G and 10G services. The transmission distances for the main and backup lines are approximately 340km and 220km, respectively. The power budget for the main line is 72dB, while for the backup line, it is 59dB.

Solution Description: To meet the needs of the client in the power industry, we have provided the following wavelength division transmission solution. We have chosen to use the STN6200 product series, which includes FEC units, BA units, Raman amplification units, PA units, and DCM units. Through the combination of these units, we are able to achieve efficient data transmission over different distance ranges. This solution ensures stable and reliable communication services for the client, meeting their requirements for transmission quality and reliability.



Case 3:





Customer Requirement: The customer requires support for 5 waves of 40G services and 13 waves of 10G services, with optical protection functionality for the line.

Solution Description: Business Configuration: We utilize STN6200 series 10G/40G wavelength conversion units and mux/demux units to transmit 5 waves of 40G services and 13 waves of 10G services. To meet the customer's demand for optical protection, we have implemented a relay OLP protection plan. Building upon the existing 80km dispersion compensation in the original line, and considering the G.652 fiber type with significant attenuation over the backup route, we have added STN6200 series LA (Line Amplifier) units and 20km dispersion compensation units at the relay point. This configuration enhances system reliability and stability, ensuring continuous and complete service integrity.
