2026 'Sino Cup' Beijing Tsinghua Alumni Table Tennis Team League Successfully Concludes Second Match Day

Beijing, China – August 15, 2026 — The second match day of the 2026 “Sino Cup” Beijing Tsinghua Alumni Table Tennis Team League kicked off at 2:00 PM on August 15 at the THA Table Tennis Lounge in Taiyanggong Garden, Chaoyang District, with eight teams and about 60 Tsinghua alumni and friends taking to the courts. The league has now expanded from its initial 14 teams to 16, and the second round followed the same format as the first: the eight teams were paired head-to-head, with each team completing three fixtures.

The pairings for the day’s three rounds were as follows:

Among the eight teams scheduled for the day, the newly formed Zi Jing Ling Hang Team could not field a full lineup and missed the day’s fixtures. Qi Tong Xue Zhong Nian Team, which had competed in the first round, stepped in as its replacement and therefore played one extra round of matches.

Building on the successful experience of the first match day, the organizing committee delivered a more efficient schedule, and the competition ran smoothly. Play began at 2:00 PM and concluded at 5:30 PM, with all fixtures completed in just three and a half hours.

Each team was allowed to invite one guest player who was not a Tsinghua alumnus. Under the rules, however, the combined points of the four players on court could not exceed 7,000, ensuring that invited guests could not give any team an overwhelming advantage. The guests nonetheless raised the pace and atmosphere of the matches, increasing their intensity and spectacle, with cheers and applause ringing out across the venue.

Wu Suo Wei Team swept all three of its fixtures on the day, winning 3:1, 3:1 and 3:0 for six points, while Qi Tong Xue Zhong Nian Team, playing one extra round, finished with eight points. With the second match day complete, 15 teams have now taken to the courts at the THA Table Tennis Lounge; only Zi Jing Ling Hang Team has yet to appear in the league.

Scoring rules: two points for a win, one point for a loss, and zero points for a forfeit.

The Tsinghua alumni on court, though well into middle age, showed undiminished vitality. Whether in the workplace or on the table tennis court, they remain enterprising and eager to keep moving forward. The oldest player of the day was Dong Jianhua of the Xing Jian Zi Qiang Team, who at 66 embodies his team’s name — “as heaven maintains vigor through movement, a gentleman should constantly strive for self-improvement.” Tsinghua’s motto, “Self-Discipline and Social Commitment,” is deeply woven into the character of its alumni.

The gentlemanly contest on the courts not only showcased courtesy and mutual respect but also the spirit of unremitting self-improvement. By respecting opponents and the game, competing against strong rivals, and learning from one another, the players continued to improve.
