On April 27, 2024, as Tsinghua University celebrated its 113th anniversary, the gymnasium was abuzz with excitement. The 13th Tsinghua Alumni Table Tennis Tournament was held as scheduled, bringing together over 200 alumni. Using table tennis, a sport beloved in China, as a medium, the event aimed to carry forward Tsinghua’s athletic spirit and showcase the excellence of its alumni.

The opening ceremony was attended by Guo Yong, Deputy Secretary of the Tsinghua University Party Committee; Chen Weiqiang, Deputy Secretary General of the Tsinghua University Alumni Association; and Liu Guozheng, Associate Professor in Tsinghua University’s Physical Education Department and World Champion. Secretary Guo Yong delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, warmly welcoming the enthusiastic participation of the alumni.

Following this, Secretary Guo, Deputy Secretary General Chen, Professor Liu, and Xie Hu, Chairman of this year's sponsor, Sino-Telecom Technology Co., Inc., inaugurated the event with an entertaining doubles exhibition match.

During the competition, alumni not only demonstrated their superb table tennis skills but also embodied the spirit of unity, collaboration, and determination characteristic of Tsinghua students. The matches were intense and thrilling, with remarkable rallies and brilliant defensive plays that drew rounds of applause from the audience.

The tournament featured four events: Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. The Men's Singles were divided into four age groups: Under 40, 40-50, 50-60, and Over 60. The Women's Singles had two age groups: Under 40 and Over 40. Both the Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles were split into two groups based on combined ages: Over 90 and Under 90. Each participant was allowed to register for two events: one singles and one doubles.

After a day of intense and exciting competition, the top three winners in each of the ten age groups across the four events were determined. The closing ceremony was attended by Deputy Secretary General Chen Weiqiang, Chairman Xie Hu, and Professor Liu Guozheng, who presented the awards to the victorious athletes.

This event was organized by the Tsinghua Alumni Association and the Tsinghua University Physical Education Department, and hosted by the Tsinghua Alumni Table Tennis Association. It was sponsored by Sino-Telecom and Century 2000 Company. Sino-Telecom has been the main sponsor of the Tsinghua Alumni Table Tennis Tournament for six consecutive years since 2019. The Sino-Telecom volunteer team also actively participated in the organization and preparation of the event, demonstrating their team spirit of "Dedicated Commitment, Full Effort," and making significant contributions to the successful conduct of the tournament.
